Conservation Efforts
Wild Spirit Wild Places® is committed to protecting Texas’ disappearing wild and ranch lands, as well as the incredible ecosystems across our great state.
We have created short films telling these important stories and hope you will peruse the ones presented below.
-
Pollinators
The bees, bats, birds and other pollinators that keep our eco system thriving need our support. That’s why Wild Spirit Wild Places partnered with the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Research, the City of Austin, community members and Desert Door Texas Sotol to receive and maintain Austin’s Bee City designation.
-
Back Burn
Controlled burns are critical to the health of rangelands. It can be difficult to see the connection between fire and conservation, but the clearing of the old makes way for the new, and the prescribed burns we completed in Ozona were an incredible example of stewardship in action.

Spoke Hollow
The partnership between Wild Spirit Wild Places, Spoke Hollow, and Desert Door used strategic clearing practices to restore the natural balances of Ashe Juniper. Removing it is necessary to maintain the aquifers that feed groundwater, sustain a healthy terrain, and support the needs of native wildlife.
